Alex Doll, LPC Intern

Alex has a strong foundation in mindfulness and contemplative practice, having been a regular meditator for over 15 years and having sat in many retreats, including a three-month silent retreat. This practice has shaped his ability to be deeply present with clients and attuned to the subtle nuances of their experience.

Alex has significant training and ongoing study in complex and developmental trauma, primarily through the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM). His work is also informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS), Attachment Theory, transpersonal psychology, humanistic and person-centered approaches, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

For ten years, I worked as an engineer. On paper, things were going well—but something never quite felt right. Despite professional success, I felt unhappy at a deeper level and began asking myself bigger questions about who I was and how I wanted to live.

That questioning led me to turn toward my own inner experience through meditation and other healing practices, including a three-month silent retreat. Through that process, I discovered that what brings me the most meaning is being deeply present with others and supporting them in their healing and growth.

What brought you to counseling?

I create a warm, inviting, and non-judgmental space where clients can explore what is most important to them and what may be getting in the way of living the life they want. I take a non-pathologizing approach and view my clients as the experts on their own experience. I’m not here to tell you what to do, but to walk alongside you as a guide. My work is grounded in presence, compassion, and curiosity. You can expect thoughtful questions that invite deeper exploration, open up new possibilities, and help us get to the heart of what truly matters to you.

What’s it like to work with you?

I love to travel and have lived in several intentional communities in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Guatemala. I completed my yoga teacher training at a yoga ashram in India, and one of my favorite hobbies is singing kirtan, a form of devotional vocal meditation from India.
