- Ingrid Serck-Hanssen
My journey into mental health counseling began over a decade ago when I discovered my oldest son was struggling with mental health and addiction. Journaling helped me process the pain, which led me to author the book: What Next? When Your Kid Steals Your Van. I became an advocate for mental health and addiction awareness, believing in the power of open conversation and holistic healing.
What brought you to counseling?
I’m deeply compassionate and nonjudgmental. My goal is to help clients understand and overcome disempowering patterns in their relationships and communication. I strive to empower clients to take control of their healing and equip them with tools for self-management and accountability. I’m always open and curious—ready to help you write a new chapter in your story.
What’s it like to work with you?
As a lifelong learner, I’m passionate about promoting strategies that help people live balanced lives. As a co-founder of Alpha Element Institute, I have been part of creating a framework to help manage stress and strengthen relationships. I’ve also created a self-paced program addressing the stigma of alcohol misuse and providing tools for change.
What drives your approach to learning?
Born and raised in Norway, I took a leap of faith and moved to Minnesota in 1991. Raising two adopted sons with unique challenges has shaped my approach to mental health counseling. My personal experiences with trauma and healing have strengthened my commitment to helping others on their paths to peace.
